Google Cuts AI Plus to $4.99 and Splits AI Ultra into $99.99 and $199.99 Tiers

What changed
Google made two price cuts to its AI subscriptions around Google I/O 2026:
- Google AI Plus dropped from $7.99 to $4.99/mo (June 8, 2026).
- Google AI Ultra was split in two: a new $99.99/mo tier (about 5x Pro usage) and a $199.99/mo tier (about 20x), replacing the single $249.99 plan.
Google AI Pro stays at $19.99/mo.
Before / After
| Plan | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| AI Plus | $7.99/mo | $4.99/mo |
| AI Pro | $19.99/mo | $19.99/mo (unchanged) |
| AI Ultra | $249.99/mo | $99.99/mo or $199.99/mo |
What this means for you
AI Plus is now the cheapest paid plan from a major AI lab, below ChatGPT Go ($8). It also raises limits in Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM).
Heavy users who were paying $249.99 for Ultra can likely drop to the $99.99 tier. Check your actual usage first.
